UPC Announces Progress on New Case Management System in Cooperation with EPO
UPC-News | 16.05.2025
The Unified Patent Court (UPC), working closely with the European Patent Office (EPO) and representatives from user organizations, is making strong progress on its new Case Management System (CMS), with a launch planned for July 2025. The system is currently undergoing intensive testing, focusing on both technical performance and data migration quality.
Several user-friendly features have already been confirmed:
-
Software-based multifactor authentication will replace physical tokens.
-
Flexible document uploads will allow users to file pleadings at any time, without system-imposed restrictions.
-
Single-case workflow: All filings will be managed within the main case file, eliminating the need for parallel case numbers.
-
Familiar user interface based on the EPO’s current online systems for a seamless transition.
-
Simplified navigation without excessive prompts, allowing greater control for experienced users.
The exact launch date will be announced shortly, along with a comprehensive communication plan, including guides and tutorials made available on the Court’s website ahead of the rollout.
