Together Prof. Dr. Moritz Bälz (University of Frankfurt) and Dr. Christopher Heath (BoA, EPO), Dr. Marc Dernauer and Dr. Anja Petersen-Padberg of HOFFMANN EITLE’s legal department have published the book "Business Law in Japan – Cases and Comments: Intellectual Property, Civil, Commercial and International Private Law". The book is dedicated to Prof. Dr. Harald Baum, Head of the Department for Japanese Law at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (MPI) in Hamburg, and was presented to him at the MPI in Hamburg on the occasion of the celebration of his 60th birthday on 14 May 2012.
In the book, more than 50 legal practitioners and scholars from Japan and Germany have commented on 72 landmark cases of the Japanese courts in the various fields of business law, in particular intellectual property law. The book aims at providing a quick and reliable understanding of each specific field of law. Leading cases are essential for understanding the reality of Japanese business law.
